PURPOSE OF MUSIC

PIANO FIRST

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

“The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.”

        --Johann Sebastian Bach

The piano is a gateway to many other instruments, including the voice. The wise student will learn to play piano first, even if the goal is learning to play the violin or trumpet later on.

Piano lessons are an investment in the life of your child. The students who succeed and go on to truly love the piano are the ones whose parents are fully involved.

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
PERFORMANCES PREPARE

  PIANO FOR A LIFETIME

   Practice makes perfect?

We have heard it all our lives, but it's not true! Only perfect practice makes a perfect performance.

Confidence, musicianship and poise are not developed just by taking piano lessons. These qualities are built at rehearsals, recitals, church programs, family gatherings and any other time a pianist performs for an audience.

When I was just beginning piano lessons, we were honored by a visit from my great-grandmother.   At age ninety-one, with dim vision and trembling hands, she played ragtime. I have never forgotten it.
